Millbrook with Solid Defense in Semi-finals, but not able to get the timely rally
L Peterson
The Millbrook Mustangs hosted Winchendon on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for the Western New England (WNEPSGSBA) Division B semi-finals. The Mustangs earned the #1 seed and were excited to host.
The Mustangs played some solid defense throughout the game - including two innings when Winchedon got the bases loaded with one out and Millbrook got out of the inning without giving up a run (in the third and fifth innings). The Mustangs then closed out the Winchendon offense in the 7th with a great heads up double play, when Jaicee Downs ‘26 caught a line drive and fired it to Stella Renzi ‘26 at third to catch the Winchendon runner who was diving back.
The Mustang bats were firing throughout, but we were unable to consistently find holes in the Winchendon defense and string together rallies. The Mustangs got baserunners aboard in every inning but one today. The Mustangs plated their lone run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Lilliah Tambourine ‘26 got the inning started with a single before advancing to second base on a passed ball; Ingrid Schmitt ‘26 then had good contact to advance Tambourine, who then scored on an RBI single from Maddie O’Brien ‘25.
So proud of the team's fight today and throughout the season. And thank you to all the family and fans who joined us today and who supported us all season long!
