International Students

Millbrook is committed to having international students in our student body and welcomes applications from boys and girls residing outside the U.S. Our current international population hails from 17 countries spanning four continents. We do limit the number of students from any one country as well as the total number of international students to roughly 15% of our enrollment.

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 5 frequently asked questions.

  • Q: What are the application procedures if I am a student currently residing in Mainland China?

All applicants who are currently residing in and attending school in Mainland China must complete these pre-application steps before we will schedule an interview:
    1. Complete our inquiry form
    2. Complete a Vericant interview in China (Note: If you are currently living and attending school in the U.S., the Vericant interview will be waived.)
    3. Send your official SSAT score report to Millbrook
    4. Send your official TOEFL score report to Millbrook
To ensure that we provide each applicant the time and consideration needed during the application process, we have partnered with Vericant to interview students from Mainland China. All applicants residing in and attending schools in Mainland China must complete a preliminary interview with Vericant before visiting Millbrook. You must complete the Vericant interview and have the video delivered to Millbrook School by December 15th to be considered for admission in the upcoming academic year. Once you complete your preliminary interview with Vericant, our admission officers will review your materials and notify you within three weeks if you have been selected for a second-round interview with a Millbrook School admission associate. Interviews with Vericant will begin in August 2016 for the 2017-2018 academic year.
  • Q: Do you offer an English as a Second Language (ESL) course for international students?

There is no separate ESL track - international students who matriculate at Millbrook must have a fluency in English which permits them to enroll in courses across the curriculum with their American classmates.
  • Q: How do application requirements differ for international students?

The admission process for international students is mostly the same as for domestic students. In addition to the SSAT, we do require international applicants, for whom English is not their first language, to take either the IELTS test or the TOEFL test. Students who score around 100 on the computerized version of the TOEFL are typically able to handle the rigor of Millbrook’s curriculum.
  • Q: Is an on-campus interview required as part of the application process?

International applicants must visit our campus for an interview and tour unless there are unusual circumstances which do not permit them to do so.
  • Q: Are international students awarded financial aid?

Yes, but on a limited basis. Applicants should refer to the financial aid process under the Tuition and Financial Aid tab for more information.
