Outersoles: Writing a Poetry Book
Anel is passionate about diversity, belonging, and breaking barriers at Millbrook.
Her coursework often reflected that passion, but as graduation neared, she realized she still had more to say—evident in a Google Drive full of unfinished thoughts. She chose stream-of-consciousness poetry to give those fragments a voice, creating her CES project, Outersoles. The chapbook reflects on her search for an audience, her love for Millbrook alongside longing for her Dominican Republic homeland, and the myth of Sisyphus as a metaphor for breaking barriers.
