A New Canaan, Connecticut native, Caroline has worked at the zoo since she was a IIIrd former. Now in the VIth form, this is her second year as a curator, and she shares these insightful thoughts about her time at the zoo:

"My favorite animal at the zoo are the leopard geckos. They are calm, easy to hold, and I like to place them on my shoulder while I care for them."

"My favorite experience has been working with students, helping them learn about the animals and creating these experiences and memories that I wouldn't be able to have at any other school."

"I have learned so much about work ethic, as working with animals and younger students isn't always easy and quick. Most tasks require lots of patience, and not all animals and students are the same—everyone has their own way of completing things, so you have to understand their comfortability before moving forward."

"I would say show up on time, set up fast, and make sure you truly know how to care for your animals before your first time handling them. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and make sure the zoo feels like a recess and not a punishment for your zooies."
