Andrew Williamson '05
Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Marine Corps
Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Williamson commissioned in the Marine Corps in 2009 at the University of Michigan, earning a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering. He is currently serving as the operations officer for Marine Aircraft Group 11 at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California.
Previous assignments include operational tours in the F/A-18 Hornet with VMFA-312 and VMFA(AW)-224, and in the F-35C with VMFA-314, both land-based and shipboard on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Andrew has also spent a tour on the ground side of the Marine Corps, serving as the executive officer of the Marine Rotational Force – Darwin Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MRF-D MAGTF) with 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Andrew has over 1,800 flight hours, including 250 combat hours, across five deployments.
Andrew is a graduate of the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), Air Command and Staff College, and Expeditionary Warfare School. He is slated to take command of VMFA-211 at MCAS Yuma, Arizona, in June of 2027. He is married and has a daughter and a son.
