A Vth former from Scarborough, Maine, Annabelle has worked at the zoo all three years she’s been at Millbrook. Here’s what she shared about her experience:

“My favorite experience I have had at the zoo is probably all the hands-on learning we get to do; it’s not at every place where you get to directly learn and interact with the animals, and that is my favorite part. Not every student can say they have gotten to experience feeding a red panda or have gone in a cage with wolves.”

“At the zoo, I have learned the importance of caring for the animals and the importance of enrichment in their lives. This enrichment keeps them stimulated, helps them live better lives, and prevents them from becoming bored and depressed.”

3. What advice do you have for future zooies?

“My advice for future zooies is to lean into the experience because it is a once in a lifetime experience. Though it can be gross sometimes, it is such a cool experience, so be curious and try new things.”
