Amory Koch came to Millbrook in 2000 as a Vth former and was a dedicated zooie during her two years. Using her zoo experience, she took a job at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, which led to a role in animal research as a veterinary technician at Johns Hopkins. She then earned her DVM and MS in laboratory animal medicine at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. This allowed her to receive a scholarship with the U.S. Army, and she has served for 15 years as an active-duty laboratory animal veterinarian, working with federal researchers.

She was awarded her specialty board certification from the College of Laboratory Animal Medicine in 2020 during COVID, while also assisting with research into ventilator alternatives.
