Emily Carney, BSN, RN, CPN, is a certified pediatric nurse, healthcare leader, and former crisis communications executive whose career has been grounded in service to others. She holds a bachelor's degree from Davidson College and a nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, where she graduated as a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honors Society.

Emily currently serves as a Nurse Clinical Coordinator in the Division of Colorectal & Pelvic Reconstruction at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., coordinating complex care for patients and families from across the United States and around the world. Her work has taken her internationally to educate healthcare teams and families and to support the development of global pediatric surgical programs. She is the recipient of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award and the Nursing Excellence Award for Structural Empowerment.

Before entering nursing, Emily was a vice president at APCO Worldwide, specializing in crisis communications and public relations. Although her two careers have followed very different paths, both reflect her strengths in communication, relationship-building, leadership, and supporting people as they navigate complex and high-stakes situations.

Outside of work, Emily is a mother of three and an active school and community volunteer. Her commitment to service, rooted in her time at Millbrook, continues to shape her professional work, community involvement, and family life.
