Lots of Good Things to Build Upon in Loss to Kent

L Peterson
The Mustangs welcomed Kent on a beautiful, sunny Wednesday afternoon.

A mix of lucky Kent balls falling into spots and solid hits, plus some Millbrook defensive miscues allowed Kent to take the 8-1 win.

A big shout out to the Millbrook defense for having two 1-2-3 innings in the fifth and sixth innings when down 7-0; this showed some good mental toughness.

Millbrook plated their lone run in the bottom of the sixth. Jaicee Downs ‘26 hit her way on base before Emma Lattrell ‘29 bunted her over with a hit. Some great baserunning led Jaicee Downs to be in scoring position; Joiee Downs ‘29 then put the ball in play for an RBI fielder’s choice to score Jaicee.

Some big defensive highlights:
  • 2 plays at the plate on aggressive Kent baserunning both converted for outs, with great throws by Joiee Downs and great tags by Jaicee Downs
  • Great stretches for Kate Rubinstein ‘27 at first base
  • Massive defensive coverage from Joiee Downs at shortstop

Shout out to Meghan Abbate ‘26 for her 10 strikeouts from the mound

Offensive Highlights:
  • Hailey Vigna ‘27 went 2-3 at the plate

We head to Frederick Gunn this Saturday.
