Mental Toughness from Millbrook in Season Opener

L Peterson
The Millbrook Mustangs traveled to King School for our 2026 season opener. With a young team with many new players, we were excited to get onto the field.

Millbrook was aggressive at the plate throughout the game, but we were unable to get the timely hits. Jaicee Downs ‘26 led the offense, going 2-3.

Defensively, we made some heads up plays—including some great ups from Joiee Downs ‘29 at third to catch a rocket of a high line drive, Ingrid Schmitt ‘26 who tracked a high fly ball in foul territory, and Neva Gunderson ‘26 who stepped in behind the plate and had a good tag out at home. We had two 3-batter innings and two 4-batter innings.

Meghan Abbate ‘29 notched 13 strikeouts from the mound in her Millbrook pitching debut.

Lots of good things to build on!

We look forward to welcoming Suffield to campus tomorrow for our season home opener.
