Lady Mustangs Make it Two in a Row

Gordie MacKenzie
The girls boarded the busses for a trip to Pittsfield Ma. to take on Hurricanes of Miss Halls. It was a beautiful sunny day with the winds calm - perfect conditions for an afternoon match. As they did with their game against Gunnery, Millbrook looked to strike early and keep the ball in front of them. It took just 4 minutes for Jalia Musah '21 to notch her first of two, followed by her country woman, Suwaibatu Mohammed '19 who added two more back-to-back. Four year lettermen, Helen Apollon '19 would net her second of the season, which was then followed by Adelaide Armah '19 and Mohammed again. Along with Armah and Musah, Carolyn Whitney '19 also contributed assists to the boxsore. The Mustangs took the comfortable lead into half time up 7-0. The second half saw the rest of the team getting some quality minutes out on the pitch.  Working hard in the midfield were newcomers Amber Hatfield '21, Molly Reid '21 and Daina Velez '21, while Elise Almgren '20 and Brysha Schmidt '22 split duty in goal for the Mustang totaling 4 saves amongst them.

After the game, the girls got back on the busses for a team dinner hosted by the Mr. & Mrs. Almgren.  Besides having access to a heated pool, corn hole, and ping pong, the girls were treated to a delicious feast capped off by a surprise birthday cake for Suwaibatu to celebrate her birthday. The girls and coaches would like to  give a HUGE shoutout to the Almgrens for their generosity and hospitality!!

Back to action against long time rival, Kent School on Wednesday.
