Mustangs Open Season with 1-0 Win over GFA

The Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team got off to a great start in the 2015 season with a convincing 1-0 win over Greens Farms. Co-Captain Heidi Reiss '16 notched the game-winner off a pass from the wing from newcomer Chloe Robinson '19. The Mustangs were a bit unlucky not to put a few more tallies on the board, as they had a goal off a GFA stick called back, a shot hit the backboard milliseconds after a whistle against GFA, and several shots that hit the post. It was a complete team effort and a nice win. Millbrook's solid defense, with Caroline Reilly '17 at sweeper and Laura Toland '17, Tess Toland '17, and Co-Captain Jill Koop '16 at back, dictated the flow of the game, not allowing balls through and using well-timed back passes to swing the ball from one side of the field to the other. Riley Croghan '18 was a maestro in the midfield, using excellent field vision to slice through the GFA defense with her passes. The whole Millbrook team passed extremely well. Keeper Patricia Smith '17 made two saves to earn the shutout win. The Mustangs will look to play with a similar amount of effort on Wednesday against Berkshire.
