Convocation Sets the Tone for a Year of INTEGRITY
Last night, Convocation provided the community with its first opportunity to formally gather together under one roof and recognize important shared goals for the year.
The traditional bagpiper led the all-school procession to the Flagler Memorial Chapel, and our international student flag-bearers contributed greatly to the colorful ceremonious beginning. Once inside, Headmaster Drew Casertano addressed the community—he spoke of the new beginning that a fresh academic year can provide and offered advice on how students might discover their passions, fulfill personal goals, and reach their full potential. Mr. Casertano also emphasized the year’s theme of integrity, one of Millbrook’s five core values. “The all-important, life long process of creating yourself is based on your integrity. Whatever self you may create will crumble if not founded on integrity." With spirits high and an optimistic tone set, our 294 students and full faculty exited the chapel and attended their first formal dinner of the year.
The theme of integrity will inform everything we do and teach on campus in 2014-2015: from academic honesty, to community service responsibility, to sportsmanship, to respecting and embracing difference as we live and learn in our community. Stay tuned for many more stories on how integrity is being learned and lived at Millbrook this year!
