Welcome, New Faculty!

One of the most important features of Millbrook School has always been the thoughtful, engaged, committed, and gifted faculty and staff. This year’s group of new faculty is no exception.

Though all are new to the Millbrook faculty, not all members of this group are new to Millbrook’s campus.

Ana Steele-Norton ’06 returns to Millbrook after an impressive four-year hockey and lacrosse career at Elmira College. Ana will be utilizing her athletic talents to coach three sports in addition to supervising Guest House and shadowing various teachers as part of her internship.

Jon Downs, a member of the class of 1998, returns to Millbrook as the new Director of Admission. Previously, Jon served as Dean of Students at Providence Day School in Charlotte, NC, where he met his wife Erin, who will also be joining the Millbrook faculty. Erin is the new assistant director of communications and member of the English department.

Though not a graduate of Millbrook School, Tom Spinella returns to campus after helping out during the spring of 2010. An accomplished lacrosse player himself, Tom assisted Dave Mullen with the lacrosse team, a role he is well equipped to handle after his year of coaching at Bryant University. This year, Tom will be wearing many hats at Millbrook; he is working as part of the admission team, assisting in college counseling, teaching a biology class, and coaching three sports.

Colin Donovan joined the Millbrook community in the beginning of the summer as the new Director of the Annual Fund. He is no stranger to working in development, as he served his alma mater of Delbarton in a similar capacity. After working in customer relations with Vineyard Vines, Colin returns to the educational world.

After an exciting couple of years in New York working as a book publicist for Oxford Press, Carrie Petri begins her career in secondary school education. Prior to working in publications, Carrie taught in Argentina and Uruguay, an experience that will undoubtedly make her Spanish classes here at Millbrook more alive and enriched.

Chub Bailly begins the 2010-2011 Millbrook school year in a new role. His son Sam is a graduate of the class of 2008, so Chub will be transitioning from parent to faculty. Chub’s history students are in luck; before Millbrook, he was a successful commercial actor and writer, so his classes are sure to be captivating and exciting.

Andres Gonzalez-Stewart joins foreign language department as a Spanish and Mandarin teacher. A recent graduate of Middlebury College, Andres is an avid language-enthusiast.

Welcome, new faculty! We anticipate another fantastic school year.
