Boys Varsity Baseball vs. Berkshire

Again, Millbrook left too many runners on base (9) as we had 11 total baserunners but couldn’t push one across to make this a close game.  The game was quite close for the first 5 innings as John McCulla ‘10 pitched well, striking out the side in the first.  A few untimely walks and a couple of balls hit barely fair led to the first 4 Berkshire runs.  Millbrook threatened in the 1st, 4th , 5th, and 6th.  Offensively, John McCulla paced the Mustangs with 3 singles and Charlie Merrill “09, moved into the leadoff spot, responded with a double, 2 walks and an absolute bomb to left that somehow was caught over 350 feet from home.  Merrill added an outfield assist to make a double play in the 6th inning.  Of particular note was the play of captain Ken Moniz ’09 who played well and was a great leader; picking the guys up after mistakes and making several outstanding catches on pop-ups as well as catching a fine game.
