Frank Borges ’70, First John V. Frank Lecturer

Millbrook was delighted to welcome back a graduate and former trustee (1980 – 1986) to the Chelsea Morrison Theater on Friday evening, March 28 to be the first John V. Frank Lecturer. After graduating from Millbrook in 1970, Frank went on to earn a B.A. from Trinity College and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut. He is currently chairman and managing partner at Landmark Partners, a private equity firm in Simsbury, CT.

Before his association with Landmark, he was the managing director of GE Capital’s Financial Guaranty Insurance Company, the former mayor of the city of Hartford, legal counsel for the Travelers Insurance Companies and the former treasurer of the State of Connecticut. He serves now on the board of directors and investment committees of the Hartford Foundation for Giving, on the UCONN Foundation and the University of Hartford Board of Regents and as the treasurer of the National NAACP.

With such an impressive list of accomplishments, it is no wonder that Frank Borges was chosen as the first John V. Frank Lecturer at Millbrook as the lecture series “invites inspiring speakers to campus, particularly those who are entrepreneurs having benefited from the Millbrook experience.” This endowed lecture series was established with a gift to Millbrook from the Burton D. Morgan Foundation in honor of John V. Frank ’56 at the time of his fiftieth reunion. John was among those gathered in the theater to listen to Frank’s talk.

Frank’s entire talk to Millbrook students and faculty on entrepreneurship and on the benefits of a Millbrook education may be viewed here. In addition, to view the web clip of Frank’s interview for the 75th documentary, Down School Road: Millbrook at 75 and his wonderful story about his relationship with former faculty member/headmaster Henry Callard, click here.
