Millbrook and Salisbury played a "five-goal thriller" with the home team prevailing 3-2. Millbrook came out playing good ball control soccer while Salisbury took the direct approach. It was a compelling contrast in styles, with Salisbury taking advantage of some slack defending to get out to a two goal lead. It was 3-0 shortly before the half on a controversial goal that may have been offside and Millbrook was in trouble. Just before the halftime whistle, though, Augie Lehrecke pulled one back to make a game of it. When Charlie Merrill drew the Mustangs to 3-2 midway through the second half, the stage was set, and the last twenty minutes were as much tennis as soccer, with Millbrook pushing players forward at one end and Salisbury's talented forwards counterattacking the resulting gap at the other. Chase Cochran, John McCulla and Jamie MacMillan each made terrific saves in the box, the last on a perfect slide tackle that may have been the play of the game. Goal-scoring specialist Mattieu Dubuc turned provider, with assists on both Millbrook goals, and Matt Ferrari, Brock Swarwood and Dillon Lawson-Johnston each provided great minutes off the bench. The referee did an outstanding job keeping up with two physical and speedy teams, and the fans were treated to an entertaining match.
