Millbrook at Hamden Hall
The varsity field hockey team defeated a persistent Hamden Hall 4-1 at Hamden Hall. We played well in the first half, scoring three goals after a slow start. Ferrari scored first on a pretty penalty corner hit. Our second goal came minutes later on a fast break from Anthony who shot, and Zublin nailed the rebound with a well-placed corner shot. Goal number three came just before the end of the half as Ascencio, who had a good game moving the ball, shot from the top of the circle and Schroth tipped it in from the left post, her second goal this year. Ascencio with the assist. Anthony scored the fourth goal in the second half at 10:44 off a melee in front of goal. Things got a little tricky in the second half as Hamden Hall came back and Millbrook's defense gave up 7 penalty corners but the defensive unit (Kelly, Roxborough, Ehrenreich) came through, again, and held the Hall to just one goal. Goalie Maglaque had a fine game, especially in the second half making three saves.
