The Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team scored three second-half goals to come from behind and beat St. Luke’s in New Canaan, CT on Wednesday afternoon. The game was tightly contested and highly charged from the beginning. Chloe Robinson ’19 led the way with a pair of goals and an assist, while fellow forwards Ellie Muckstadt ’18 and Jasmine Thatcher ’17 added tallies as well. The Mustangs came off the long bus ride looking flat and sluggish, and St. Luke’s scored twice in the first half. Just when things looked bleak for Millbrook, though, Robinson charged down the field with the ball, dodging the whole St. Luke’s team and sending a shot across the left side of the goal and past the keeper, stunning St. Luke’s and cutting the lead to 2-1 headed into the half. Just six minutes into the second, Robinson knocked home her second (assist to Siena Buffa ’16) to knot the game at 2-2. 10 minutes later, Muckstadt took a feed from Robinson and gave Millbrook a 3-2 lead. Thatcher then scored Millbrook’s final tally (and the eventual game-winner) on the left post, knocking in a pass sent across the goal by Muckstadt. St. Luke’s was able to add one more with two minutes left in the game off a penalty corner, but the Mustangs held on for the win on a quickly darkening field. Patricia Smith ’17 made five saves in the win. Millbrook travels to Suffield on Saturday. (Big thanks to S-N for driving one of the buses today!)
