Millbrook Handles Cheshire, 4-0

The Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team dominated in all aspects of the game and defeated Cheshire 4-0 on Saturday night. Though it was an unusual game--at Cheshire at 6 PM under the lights--the team handled the different circumstances well and came out with intensity and energy from the opening whistle. The Mustangs got on the board just over four minutes into the game, when Siena Buffa '16 sent a hard drive from the left corner across the goal, and Jasmine Thatcher '17 deflected it to Heidi Reiss '16, who knocked it home for the score. At 12:45 in the first Ellie Muckstadt '18 scored her first varsity goal, collecting a rebound off the goalie's pads and sending it back in for the 2-0 lead, which is how the first half ended. The Mustangs scored two more goals in the second half (at almost identical points in the half as the team's first two goals). Ava Quartararo '18 fed Buffa, who sent the ball past the keeper from the top right of the circle, and then Reiss closed things out with her second tally, with the assist from her co-captain Jill Koop '16. Patricia Smith '17 notched the shutout, making one save. The Mustangs host Rye and Sacred Heart this coming week.
