Between the raindrops, Millbrook comes away with a good win

Coach Powers
We took to the road again to face a hybrid Varsity/JV squad from the exceptionally strong program of Greenwich Academy.  Play started under sunny skies, and things started sunny for the Mustangs as all of the singles won their first sets.  #4 Caroline Reilly '17 had a dominating performance in the second as well, winning 1 and 0.  #3 Heidi Reiss '16 continued her strong play and won 2 and 0 to earn Mustang of the Week honors.  Heidi is simply playing exceptionally smart points, picking her spots to attack and finishing well.  At #2, Isabel Seaborn '16 gritted out the first set, but the high soft shots of her opponent proved frustrating in the second, and despite some great shots, she fell 10-8 in the deciding tiebreaker.  #1 Sophia Hartman '16 faced a tough competitior who didn't get rattled by Sophia's booming serves and forehand, but in the end Sophia's big shots proved decisive in the 4 and 4 victory. While we swept the doubles in the end, there were some excellent matches and wonderful net play. #3 Mansell Ambrose '14 and Fran Gottwald '16 won a close first set, dropped the second but came back strong as the rain began to fall in the tiebreaker to take the match. #2 Capt. Alix Creel '14 and Daisy Flotron '15 jumped ahead of their opponents and closed out the first set.  They fell behind 5-3 in the second before ripping off 4 games for the nice victory.  At #1 Capt. Julia May '14 and Iona Moir '15 dropped the first set, but made some nice adjustments to take the seocnd set in a tiebreaker 7-2.  They then jumped ahead in the deciding tie-breaker going on to win 10-5. It was a good win against quality tennis players.
