Another one slips away

After a disappointing come from behind loss to Canterbury on Wednesday, Millbrook had an opportunity to make up for it in their home opener against Winchendon in its second league game. Like in their last match, Millbrook fell behind 1-0 early in the first period only to pounce back to take a 3-1 lead in the early stages of the second. The lead, however, was short lived as Winchendon stormed back to not only tie the game, but retake the lead in less than 10 minutes. Down 2 goals with under 4 minutes to play in the third, Millbrook’s Power Play cut the deficit to 1, and the excitement was building as the game came down to the wire. But the relentless effort of Winchendon quickly took the air out of the arena as they scored twice in the remaining 3 minutes to seal the game and hand Millbrook their second loss 7-4. Matt Abbott ’09, Jon Theriault ’10, and Alex Simard ‘10 all scored their second of the season, while Matt Job ’10 knotted his first. JD Carrabino ’10 recorded 2 assists, and Jamie MacMillan ’09 had 30 saves in net for the Mustangs.
