Another Squeaker

GFA made the trip in the rain to play indoors this Friday.  The doubles started the action with Tracy and Bea grabbing a big lead and winning 8-2.  1+2 dubs were battles.  Sophie and Lucy won their back and forth affair, 8-6, while Neve and Lilly lost their by the same score. So very proud of how we are playing such smart doubles at this point in the year.  The singles got started and Captain Elle jumped out to a big lead at #3, and regrouped after a furious comeback by the GFA player to win 8-6.  Meanwhile, Molly's opponent was playing great and she found herself in a hole, eventually losing the set.  So we needed one more point to win the match and Catherine was down 4-7, and Maggie was in. back and forth match.  Catherine dug really deep and won the next three games to force a deciding tiebreaker.  She also was down 2-5 in the breaker before ripping off 5 consecutive points to grab the 8-7 win, and the win for the team.  Maggie was playing a very solid player who, in the end, made a few more shots, and she lost 6-8.  Great Tennis today, and a big win for the team!
