In a big, competitive race, Millbrook bests Gunn and Kent, loses to Hoosac and Sacred Heart

Coach Havard
Co-captain Juliet Drury wins the race in her PR on Millbrook's home course.
After the deluge on Friday and Saturday morning, Millbrook's course was sloppy and muddy, but the whole team came out to compete against four visiting opponents. At the one-mile mark half-way up ski hill, it appeared that Juliet might be in a battle that would last the entire 5k of our home course. After cresting the hill, however, Drury made the decision to go, and she steadily put space between her and the talented Lily Czub of Hoosac, winning the race in 21:24, 50 seconds ahead of the field. Among the other highlights were Jaicee Downs's gutsy finish as the second runner for Millbrook, just one second behind the first Frederick Gunn runner and well ahead of the second, who had bested Jaicee just last weekend. Ingrid Schmitt came third for Millbrook in another close finish, followed by co-captain Sarah Eagen, newcomer Selina Hung in her first race for Millbrook, and co-captain Aiden Corbin.  Angelina Huang, Linna Du, and Tracy Yin all pushed hard. Particular shout out to Nga Ho, who surprised herself by besting last year's time on the course by several minutes. The final results were a win for Millbrook against Frederick Gunn and Kent, and losses to talented Sacred Heart and Hoosac squads. It was true cross country today, and a great day for running!
