J.P. LaCosse
Millbrook traveled to Pomfret for an inaugural "Millbrook-Pomfret Day" as all Millbrook fall sports teams competed there on a single day.  Millbrook and Pomfret both had tough defenses, with Pomfret squeaking some run plays through the Mustang defense to score. Millbrook scored their points on two kickoff returns.  Millbrook returns to Pomfret on Saturday, November 20, to play for the league championship.
All the Mustang teams traveled to Pomfret School to face the Griffins in multiple sports contests as part of the first "Millbrook-Pomfret Day" between Millbrook School and Pomfret School.  The football Mustangs were more than ready to try to beat Pomfret for the first time in its modern history.

The first part of the first quarter was a defensive battle with each team making gains and then stopped short of the goal.  Pomfret was the first to score with 6:50 remaining of the 1st quarter on a 23 yard TD rush and a run conversion.   At 1:43 remaining in the 1st quarter, Pomfret scored again on a 20 yard TD rush with no conversion.  Millbrook scored on the ensuing kickoff on a 70 yard run by Matt Sardo.  Pomfret scored another TD at 6:16 left in the 2nd quarter on a 20 yard run.  No conversion, and the Mustangs again scored on the ensuing kickoff with another 70 yard run by Matt Sardo.  The score was Millbrook 12, Pomfret 20 at halftime.

The 2nd half was again a defensive battle with only one score by Pomfret at 0:02 left in the 3rd quarter on a 5 yard run. No conversion again, giving the final score Millbrook 12, Pomfret 26.

The Mustang defense was busy with many players making many tackles.  The Mustangs were effective in stopping the Griffin passing game with 4 interceptions and forcing many incomplete passes.   The Mustangs also continued their gang tackling technique.  The defensive leaders were FS Matt Sardo with 10 tackles, LB Nolan Cadieux with 8.5 tackles, SS Mac Elliott and T Jason Weiss both with 7.5 tackles.  LB Jaylen Thatcher with 6.5 tackles, CB Aaron Jean-Francois with 6 tackles, LB Rocco Boland with 5 and CB Eli Crystal with 4 tackles, respectively.   FS Matt Sardo had 3 interceptions, and SS Mac Elliott had 1 interception.

The Millbrook offense had difficulty generating the gains they had enjoyed in the previous games this season.  Rushing yards were made by RB Rocco Boland (40 yards), QB Mac Elliott (32 yards), RB Jaylen Thatcher (12 yards), WR Matt Sardo (12 yards) and RB Nolan Cadieux (6 yards).   Pass receptions were made by QB Mac Elliott (30 yards), WR Eli Crystal (17 yards), TE James Deng (15 yards), WR Matt Sardo and RB Nolan Cadieux (each 5 yards).

With their record, the Mustangs earned a bid to face Pomfret again on Saturday, November 20, at Pomfret for the league championship.
