Millbrook mounts comeback after game-long slumber

The Mustangs pulled out the comeback victory against Greens Farms Academy after a lethargic start to the match in the first game (16-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22).
To begin the match, behind some tough serving, the Dragons got up 11-3 and never looked back. Millbrook was unable to string any runs together and never threatened in game one. Game two was an entirely different story as both teams had small leads throughout. At 21-21 back-to-back-to-back Millbrook kills from CC Pessoa and then two from Emma Salvatore proved to be the difference. Game three was neck and neck until 11-11 when Millbrook scored four straight points to create some separation. The lead was maintained by a few middle attacks from Danielle Singer and Millbrook handily closed it out. Game four was a war of attrition as both teams were fighting to make fewer errors than their opponents. Up 17-14, Greens Farms proceeded to make three consecutive hitting errors to even up the match.  An explosion of a middle attack from Singer gave the Mustangs a 20-18 lead. Salvatore helped solidify the lead with a timely ace, while Pessoa's match-winning kill sealed the win. Millbrook takes the court next on Wednesday, October 6 at home against Kent School at 3:00.
