Bears!

The boys faced a very powerful Berkshire team this afternoon and lost in a valiant effort. The game was an exciting one from start to finish. The Bears struck first, surprising us early on a speedy run around the left corner. We dug in, played well and evened the score on a solo trip by Mohammed, almost end to end. Berkshire pressed hard, held the possession edge and even had a penalty kick opportunity. Stowe played magnificently, saving the PK and kept us in the game. As a result, the score was tied after 45 minutes. After the break, Berkshire continued to apply pressure. Another quick goal at the start of the half gave them the lead and the eventual win. Nevertheless, the Mustangs challenged all game long. We had chances into the final minute but could not find a way past the stingy defense or sure-handed keeper.

Despite the loss, the boys played some of their best soccer to date. The back four played superbly and the midfield, although under great pressure all afternoon, held up well. Jones had a standout performance. Stark joined Mohammed up top again, spelled well by Ferreira in the first half. Ricker made his mark in the field for the second game in a row.
