Mustangs Double Up Ethel Walker

Millbrook played host to Class C rival, Ethel Walker on a cold, gray autumn afternoon. From the opening whistle, Ethel Walker came out on fire pressuring the Mustang's defensive core with wave after wave of attacking play. To Millbrook's credit, they never let Walker have a good look, and bought some time for the rest of the squad to settle down and to find their own rhythm. The half would end with either team getting on the score board. With the start of the 2nd half, Millbrook came out with reenergized and quickly turned the tide. Ten minute in, with a quick transition out of the back, Bailey Tymeson '20 carried the ball down the right flank causing 4 of Walker's defenders to all slide to her. Tymeson cut the ball back and served a well placed ball into the box. Walker tried to clear the ball however it came rolling out to the top of the 18 where senior Carolyn Whitting was waiting - Whitting ran onto the ball (for the "Bango") and hit a low, well placed shot into the corner of the net. It would only take another 3 minutes before Tymeson again would send a beautiful service over the back line of Walker's defense for a streaking Jalia Musah '21 to run onto and place under Walker's keeper. From that point on, Millbrook's defense took over a sealed the deal. The win was a total team effort as each player stepped up and played with a great deal of heart, hustle and determination. Major credit goes to the Lady Mustang's backline of Elise Almgren '21 (5 saves), Greta Garschagen '19, Adelaide Armah '19, Brysha Schmidt '22, Dora Harag '20 and co-captain Lizzie Chamberlin '19.

Next up, Millbrook returns to Class A competition against Sacred Heart this Saturday.
