Mustangs Fall to St. Luke's

The Millbrook Varsity Softball team lost 17-4 to a talented St. Luke’s team on Saturday afternoon in a rematch of last year’s league championship game. The Mustangs were a bit flat-footed in the first and gave up eight runs to St. Luke’s before settling down. Millbrook then put up three runs of its own in the bottom of the first, when Jackie Crowley ‘20 was hit by a pitch to lead off, was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Emma Gotthelf ‘19, and scored on an RBI single from Jessie Foote ‘18. After Riley Croghan ‘18 got on with a nice double, Helene Apollon ‘19 brought both home with a single up the middle. Foote added another RBI in the second when she scored Piper Strautman ‘21. St. Luke’s hit well, but Millbrook also made some good defensive plays, including some nice catches in center field by Apollon. Croghan struck out nine and only walked one. Millbrook will travel to Miss Hall’s on Wednesday.
