Mustangs Open 2018 with Win at Greenwich Academy
The Millbrook varsity softball team opened up the 2018 season with a resounding 23-5 win at Greenwich Academy on Saturday. The Mustangs came out swinging, plating eight batters in the top of the first. Captain Riley Croghan ‘18 held the Gators scoreless until the fourth and struck out 10 in six innings. After allowing GA four runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the game, Millbrook came roaring back in the top of the sixth with 10 runs and ended the game by holding the Gators scoreless in the bottom of the inning. Croghan had five RBI for the afternoon, while Jackie Crowley ‘20 added four and Emma Gotthelf ‘19 had three. In all, eight Mustangs had at least one RBI. In addition, no Millbrook batter struck out all day, and the Mustangs made no errors in the field. It was an excellent team effort. Millbrook will travel to Suffield on Wednesday.
