Mustang Baseball on the March

Millbrook Baseball has been notching solid victories all season, the first with Head Coach Jack Harlan at the helm. With a line-up stocked with veterans, the team has been exceeding expectations with four shutout wins against some worthy NEPSAC opponents.

Eli Stowe ’22, committed to play at the University of Maryland next year, has been lights out with a .33 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched. He is 3-0 in his starts. Both Chris Diaz ’23 and Pat Costin ’24 are batting over .400 with multiple home runs. Newcomer Josh Polumbo ’22 has been a boon, sucking up innings and keeping games close. Consistent play by infielders Mike Siano ’23, Ash Colangelo ’22, and Jason Weiss ’22 have demonstrated the Mustang’s dedication to fundamentals and thoughtful baseball.

Though many Mustangs have come up big at the plate, Coach Harlan remembers a game-changing, go-ahead grand slam by Pat Costin that energized the squad to overtake a tough Williston team early in the season. “That was a huge comeback win and a confidence booster for the team,” said Coach Harlan, “and it showed that we compete with some of the strongest programs in our conference.”

A high-stakes home-and-away series against Canterbury is on tap for this week. If Millbrook wins both games, they secure a spot in the WNEPBL playoffs and can look forward to bonus baseball after the regular season.
