As the manager of docents and interpreters at the Saint Louis Zoo, Hannah is passionate about meeting people "where they are at" to inspire curiosity, empathy, and action for the natural world. She started as a keeper at Millbrook, then moved to the Bronx Zoo Mammals Department and the Boston Museum of Science Animal Center. She received her bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College, where she majored in cultural anthropology/sociology with a minor in philosophy.

With a few more part-time experiences at the Massachusetts Audubon Society at Drumlin Farms and the Boston Museum of Science Overnight Program, she went on to complete a master’s degree in environmental studies and environmental education from Antioch University New England. From there, she has worked in Adventure Education at River Ridge Environmental Education Center outside of Knoxville, Tennessee, and at the Knoxville Zoo Bird Show. She then continued her work in education departments at the Darien Nature Center, Oregon Coast Aquarium, and, most recently, at the Saint Louis Zoo, where she works with 150 education volunteers and about 50 staff interpreters. The volunteers and staff engage with guests about the zoo’s conservation projects, animals, and nature by providing personal interpretive experiences. Hannah is certified as a facilitator for the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation and as an interpretive guide and trainer for the National Association for Interpretation. She has also completed a workshop in conservation psychology through the Conservation Psychology Institute at Antioch University New England.
