Millbrook Hosts Local Community in Blessing of the Animals Celebration

The Trevor Zoo will be the site of this event that will celebrate the wonder and diversity of life of earth and raise awareness of the plight of endangered species.

Millbrook is welcoming local friends for a celebration on Sunday, October 4th (St. Francis of Assisi Day) at 3:00 p.m. We look forward to joing of local community members to focus on environmental stewardship and wildlife conservation work with the animals at the Trevor Zoo.

Also invited to join in the celebration are students, or “zooies,” who care for the animals as part of our community service program. Students come to treasure the relationships they build with the animals in their care, and they manage a great amount of responsiblity in assisting in feeding the animals and cleaning enclosures. This celebration will provide another reminder of our important role in caring for all creatures.

The Blessing of the Animals Celebration is open to the public without fee or registration and will be hosted by both Millbrook School community members as well as those from the larger surrounding area: Jono Meigs '65 former Director of the Trevor Zoo, Jane Meigs, former Conservation Education Director of Trevor Zoo, Dr. Alan Tousignant, current Director of Trevor Zoo, and Rev. Dr. Matthew Calkins, Rector of Grace Church, Millbrook. Other local clergy will attend including the Rev. Megan Sanders from St. Paul’s in Pleasant Valley.

We look forward to hosting this event that brings focus to environmental stewardship.
