With expertise in photography, design, and architecture, Sarah MacWright brings nearly two decades of independent school teaching experience to Millbrook’s Art Department. She has also played a role in shaping our beautiful campus, serving as the school’s in-house interior designer, including designing one of everyone’s favorite Millbrook spaces—The Strong Box café!

After graduating from Williams College with a BA in 2007, Sarah received her M.A. in Art Education from NYU. She taught art at Doane Stuart School before joining the faculty at Millbrook, where she has now been guiding students as a teacher and mentor for 14 years. In addition to teaching photography, she pioneered Millbrook’s architecture class as part of the new and growing Interdisciplinary Department.

She draws on local resources to teach her students, taking them off campus to explore photography and architecture in the Hudson Valley and New York City, and inviting experts into her classes to share their experiences. Her goal is to guide students to master both technique and self-expression.
