Millbrook Loses to Miss Porter's, 1-2

The Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team fell to Miss Porter's at home on Saturday by a 1-2 score. Miss Porter's took a 1-0 lead just a few minutes into the game, though the Mustangs were able to claw their way back into the game when Heather Neuburger '13 knocked the ball home off a Maddie Schmalz '13 assist. The score was knotted 1-1 at the half. However, Miss Porter's retook the lead early in the second half, and despite a myriad of offensive chances, Millbrook was haunted by an inability to finish. The Mustangs had six penalty corners in the second--many during a 10 minute stretch in which the ball barely left the Miss Porter's circle--but could not get an equalizer. After the game there was a ceremony for the five departing seniors: co-captains Eliza Chapman and Sarah Anthony, keeper A.B. Fuscone, and defensive players Elena Kikis and Paige Landesberg. Thanks to Mrs. Merrill and the underclassmen for putting together a great senior day.
