The Millbrook softball team ran its record to 3-0 for the season with a 14-1 win at Kent on Wednesday afternoon. Meg Ahern '13 earned the W with a dominating 16-strikeout performance. Ahern allowed just one hit (the run was unearned) and walked one. Catcher Tori Trovato '12 and shortstop Holland Harvard '13 teamed up to nab both Kent runners who attempted to steal. Trovato also had a huge day at the plate, putting Millbrook on the board with a towering home run in the first that also scored Melissa Rome '11 and Amber Koenigsberger '13. Trovato got on base all five times she was up to bat (a homer, two singles, a double, and HBP) and scored five runs with four RBI. Ahern also helped herself out with a pair of doubles and three RBI. Koenigsberger had three hits, Rome had a pair, and Nell Gridley '11 had two hits and two RBI. Bria Horsley '14 had her first career start and first career hit in the game, and Emily Zimmer '12 had her first career start as well. Lauren Marino got on base twice (BB and HBP) and scored a run. All in all, it was a nice win to get heading into Parents Weekend.
