The Millbrook softball team earned a 13-1 win over Cheshire in its second game of the season. The conditions, like the game itself, were a bit sloppy, but Millbrook was happy to come out with a win. Megan Ahern '13 earned herself another W with a solid performance on the mound, allowing just one run (unearned) on one hit. Ahern walked five and struck out 11. Also on defense, first baseman Melissa Sheeran '14 made a nifty grab on a foul liner, and catcher Tori Trovato '12 gunned out a runner at second and later made a sweet little flip to Ahern, who was covering home, to get a runner trying to score. For the second straight game the Millbrook bats came out hot, as the Mustangs batted around in the opening inning. Sheeran, Melissa Rome '11 and Holland Harvard '13 each had RBI singles in the inning, and Rome, Trovato, Ahern, Sheeran, Harvard, and Chloe Gbai '12 all scored. Ahern helped herself out a little more by crushing a three-run homer in the third, scoring Rome and Amber Koenigsberger '13. Millbrook will travel to Rye Country Day on Saturday.
