Millbrook 4 -- Holderness 0

Millbrook finished the Southfield tournment well, playing its best, most controlled hockey of the year and scoring early and late to beat Holderness 4-0.  Alexa de la Guardia got her team off to the best possible start, weaving her way by a defender on the left side and shooting five-hole after an assist from Louise Steele-Norton.  Five minutes later, the Mustangs got a two-goal edge when Allanah Roopchand popped in a rebound off a Meg Ahern shot.  From then on, Millbrook supplied most of the pressure, though Melissa Rome was able to handle Holderness counters, particularly on their power play.  Her counterpart, Ally Guerra denied shot after shot, and it was not until five minutes to go that Kelly Fallon iced the game, scoring on a rebound after good work by linemates Cora Mackenzie and Patricica McCarthy.  With less than a minute left, Molly Chapman fired a long pass up ice to Steele-Norton, who finished the breakaway with style to end Millbrook's tournament on a high note.  Chapman, Emma Hart, Rachel DeSimone, and Ema Waldschmidt were outstanding at the blue line, controlling their gaps and making assured passes.  Olivia Farrell did everything but score, playing a fine two-way game and giving Holderness all it could handle, while classmate Caroline McCarthy was a force in the corners.  It's off to a well-deserved break after a very good showing in Boston.
