SATURDAY, FEB 28

@ Millbrook 4, Hill School 3 – Senior Mathieu Dubuc scored the game winner, his second of the game with 30 seconds left on the clock to earn the victory for Millbrook in the semifinal game of the 2008-2009 Empire Cup. A close game from the beginning Hill and Millbrook matched goals until the very end with Mathieu Dubuc ’09 leading the way with 2 goals. Jonathan Theriault ’10 and Matt Job ’10 each scored for the Mustangs and seniors Matt Abbott and Sean Spero each recorded two assists. Millbrook outshot Hill, 52-20 and will face Trinity Pawling in the Championship game at tonight TP.

@Trinity Pawling 7, Millbrook 3 – After a terrific run to the finals Millbrook couldn’t quite get the upper hand on Trinity-Pawling as the Mustangs fell to the Pride 7-3. In a heated and electric atmosphere TP got on the board fist only to be answered by goals from Matt Job ’10 and Blake Basye ’09 to put Millbrook up 2-1. A late period power play goal tied the game at 2 and set the tone for what could have been a close and competitive battle. The lead quickly changed hands in the second off of two back-to-back goals by TP. Mathieu Dubuc ’09 cut the deficit to one with a goal of his own but unfortunately that was all that the Mustangs could muster. Undisciplined play and costly penalties sealed the fate of Millbrook as Trinity-Pawling went on to claim the 12th Annual Empire Cup with a score of 7-3. Senior goaltender Jamie MacMillan stopped 39 of 46 shots in his last game as a Mustang.
