On a beautiful afternoon for lacrosse, the Millbrook Mustangs traveled to Albany Academy for a Tilt with the Cadets. Both teams played hard all afternoon, but it would be the Mustangs that would take home the victory.
Offensively, the Mustangs collected 12 goals on the afternoon with 8 being assisted. The cadets showed great determination and with Albany Academy’s two net minders stopping 22 shots, it kept the pressure on Millbrook. Will Benjamin 09’ and Lynn Harrington 08’ would control the face off’s winning 12 of 18 draws. In net, Chris Bennett 08’ would collect 10 saves on the afternoon to pace the defense. Offensively, the Mustangs were paced by Captain Nick Weaver with 3g 1a on the day. Defensively, great midfield play by Captain Mike Perl 07’, Kirk Baldo 08’ and Mike McDonald 08’ helped in controlling the middle of the field.
In the second half, a number of young players took advantage of some playing time and produced points. Jake Schmidlapp would lead the charge with two tallies, while lone Third former, Alex Harvey would find the back of the net for his second goal of the season. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Baldo for bringing the team refreshments after the game.
The team will travel to South Kent on Saturday to play their fourth D II game of the season at 2:30PM.
