Tough Road Loss for Millbrook

L Peterson
Over a week after their last game, the Mustangs made the long trip to Thompson, CT, to play Marianapolis on Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs gave up three runs in the bottom of the first inning before holding Marianapolis through the fourth inning. Jazmin Mejia ‘25 from the mound and the Millbrook defense traded outs with Marianapolis, going back and forth for for innings.

In the top of the 5th, Millbrook rallied with two outs to cut the Marianapolis lead to one run (3-2). Arhi Fernandes ‘25 started the inning off with a walk and then scored on an RBI hit from Mejia. Jaicee Downs ‘26 followed with an RBI hit of her own to score Mejia.

Marianapolis scored another two runs in the bottom of the fifth to solidify their lead. Millbrook was unable to get another rally going.

Defensive Highlights:

- Haley Malmgren ‘25 with 3 heads up catches at first base
- Downs with some good range at shortstop—including a hard ground ball fully up the middle that she converted for an out
- Mejia with 7 Ks on the day (including 3 in a row in the bottom of the 6th inning)
