Mustangs Stampede the Cyclones

The JV boys hosted the club team NYC Cyclones on Saturday. The Mustangs continued to play well in their home barn. Reid Kugler opened the scoring in the first period with two goals. His first was assisted by David Waterman and Ben Marr. Waterman assisted on Kugler's second also, as well as Ben Lucas. In the second period, The Cyclones netted a goal to cut the Millbrook lead in half, but this seemed to inspire the boys. In an offensive storm, the Mustangs scored three goals in a 46 second span. Andrew Purse scored his first of the season off a net mouth scramble. Ben Marr scored twice; his first came off Waterman's third assist of the game and his second was from Jack Quatararo. The Cyclones came out of the locker room for the third and ramped up their play. They scored twice to bring the score to within two. The Millbrook squad regrouped and slowly started to regain control of the game. Ben Lucas scored off a Reid Kugler pass and Zach Brasser won a battle for the puck and sealed the game with an empty net goal. The Mustangs have not lost in their last four contests and travel to Rumsey Hall with an eye to continuing their successful play.
