The Lady Mustangs took on old rival, The Gunnery, and looked to get their first win of the young season. Both teams worked to find their rhythm yet it was Millbrook who soon began to dictate the play of the game. With 13 minutes remaining in the first half, senior co-captain Morgan Davis netted her first goal, assisted by newcomer Katarina Gilmour ('16). Millbrook would go into half-time with a 1 goal lead. With the start of the second half, Davis would strike again just 30 seconds in to give Millbrook some breathing room. Millbrook would score again at the 17:29 mark of the half when Lena Hardy ('13) scored her first of the year, assisted by Davis. While the game seemed to be in hand, Gunnery began to pick up the pace and scored their only goal with just under 8 minutes remaining in the game. Millbrook would respond 90 seconds later when Davis found Alden Woolford ('14) open inside the box where she scored her first goal of the year.
Millbrook's backline of Megan Ahern ('13), Gianna Muscari ('15), Geneva Wagoner ('13), and Arianna Boisvert ('14) held much of Gunnery's offense at bay. It was, however, the strong work of Millbrook's midfield unit of Courtney Bolduc ('14), Emily Evens ('13), Mary McNulty ('14), Catherine Luchars ('15) and Gilmour that helped control the middle third of the field. Millbrook's keeper, Melissa Sheeran ('14) had 2 saves on 3 shots. Next up, Millbrook takes on their second Class A opponent Greenwich Academy this coming Saturday.
