Mustangs Win 7-1 at Sacred Heart

The Millbrook Varsity Softball team traveled to Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 7-1 victory. The Mustangs scored four runs in the top of the first. Melissa Rome '11 singled to lead off the inning, and then Amber Koenigsberger '13 moved her over with a well-executed sacrifice bunt. After Tori Trovato '12 reached on an error and Meg Ahern '13 walked, Melissa Sheeran gave the Mustangs all the run support they would need with a two-RBI double. Holland Harvard '13 also bunted her way on, scoring Ahern. The Millbrook bats were a little flat after the first, but Ahern had another dominant performance on the mound and did not need any further run support. Ahern went the distance, allowing just one hit (the baserunner didn't last very long, as Trovato gunned her down when she tried to steal). Ahern struck out 15 and walked two. She did not allow an earned run.
