Southfield 3 -- Millbrook 1

Undefeated Southfield prevailed over Millbrook, 3-1, in the 2nd game of the their tournament.  It was a well-deserved victory for the tournament hosts, who dominated play for most of the game, and were troubled only occastionally by a Millbrook counterattack or power play.  Millbrook worked hard, and Melissa Rome kept her team in it right up to the last few minutes, drawing more than a few "Ooh"s from the crowd.  The first period did not reflect the shots on goal and ended at 1-1 when Meg Agern scored in the last minute on an assist from Allanah Roopchand.  Southfield kept the heat up from then on, though, with the impressive Nicole Haskins' speed causing big problems for the Millbrook defense -- it was only appropriate that she would get the ultimate game-winner midway through the second period.  Annmarie Ng got an insurance goal in the third, and though Millbrook nearly made it 3-2 with a minute left and Rome pulled from the net, the final result was a good reflection of the how the game went, and Millbrook knew that for all its hard work it had lost to a better team on the day.
