The Mustangs traveled to South Kent to play a
very talented Cardinal hockey team. It took the boys of Millbrook a little
while to get started, especially in the first period. Being outshot 14 to 9, South Kent was
up 2-0 at the end of the 1st period. The Mustangs knew that they needed to step
up their game to try and score a few goals.
In the second period, Millbrook
managed to pop a goal in. It was senior Matt Dubuc who scored Millbrook's first
goal. However, South Kent responded quickly with two of
their own goals making the score 4-1. Millbrook ended the second period down 4-1
and out shot once again 19 to 8.
The third period started out very well for the
Mustangs when Joe Theriault '10 scored Millbrook's second goal, cutting the deficit
to 2. Millbrook, down 4-2 and putting the pressure on, was the victim of a
few bad bounces and unfortunately couldn't keep the puck out of the net.
South Kent Scored three quick goals making the score 7-2.
It was then when Alex
Harvey '10 replaced Jamie MacMillan '09 in net, and quickly saw a flurry of
shots himself. Alex, despite being cold, played very well and only allowed a single
PP goal against. The final score was 2 goals for Millbrook and 8 goals for South
Kent. This game proved to be a struggle for the Mustangs, but they
will try to learn from this experience, and come back with a win on Saturday
against league opponent Pomfret.
