Ryan Mero '04 Earns Academic and Athletic Honors
Millbrook's 2004 Athlete of the Year was Ryan Mero '04, a four-year hockey and baseball player and three-year soccer player. After a post-graduate year at Avon Old Farms, Ryan began his freshman year at St. Michael's College in the fall of 2005 and has since become a leading scorer on their men's hockey team. Last week, Ryan earned both academic and athletic honors as he was named to the ECAC Men's East Hockey Honor Roll in addition to being selected as player of the week for the Northeast-10 Conference.
Ryan has had a strong career on St. Michael's hockey team. As a freshman he played in 10 games, scoring 5 goals and making 8 assists, including a goal and an assist in his first career game. During his sophomore year Ryan was second on his team in goals (10), assists (15), and points (28). As a junior, Ryan was named the 2008 Northeast-10 Player of the Year, made the Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team, and led St. Michael's in goals (20), assists (17), and points (37).
If the start of this season is any indication, Ryan will be finishing his college hockey career as a leader on the ice and in the classroom. We'll be rooting for Ryan and will post updates on his achievements later this season.
