A Great Comeback

We played indoors at RCDS (thanks to RCDS!) due to potential T-Storms. A very good Sacred Heart team, as always, greeted us. We started with 1+2 singles and 1+3 dubs. Maggie hit some incredible winners but also made a few too many errors in the loss. Catherine found herself down 3-7, but fought back to make it 6-7. A couple of points made the difference as her opponent finally found a way to finish the match. Lily and Bea found themselves facing a very talented SH duo, and took the loss. Vivian and Estee were in a back-and-forth affair that saw so many good points. They ended up in a tiebreak and found themselves down 1-4. With the entire match on the line, they played some inspired doubles to storm back and win 10-7! Still, we were down 1-3 with three matches just getting underway. Sophie continued her great play and downed her opponent 8-2. Ireland was in a back-and-forth affair.  And at No. 2 dubs, Lucy and Emelia were down 2-5. They took a deep breath and then played a much more creative game, which kept their solid opponents guessing and won six of the next seven games to secure our third win of the day, 8-6. So it came down to Ireland, who strung together beautiful point after beautiful point to take a 7-5 lead and then closed the door at love in the deciding game. We have had a few moral victories this week against some really good teams, so we were so glad and proud of the girls for their efforts in getting this huge win.
