The Mustangs Prepare for the Upcoming Empire Cup

Coach Vincent Sorriento and the boys varsity hockey team are making final preparations for this weekend’s Empire Cup tournament.
The tournament this weekend marks the 16th annual Empire Cup, an invitational tournament hosted by Millbrook and Trinity-Pawling. The teams’ excitement for the upcoming games was expressed well by goalie Matt Kricheli '15, “The team is amped. It feels like you’re playing at a professional level when you are competing for a trophy and the whole school community comes down to the rink and cheers you on.”

As usual, this year’s tournament has some fierce competition in store for the Mustangs. Their three possible competitors, Albany Academy, Trinity-Pawling, and Brunswick are fielding excellent athletes that have proven their athletic prowess throughout the season. Regardless, the Mustangs will do what they always do – train hard, practice, and bring their best game.

Coach Sorriento is optimistic about his team’s performance and feels: “For Millbrook – anytime you get to play for a championship, it’s exciting. Add the fact that we are also on the bubble for a New England playoff bid, and it makes this weekend even more exciting. We are looking forward to playing two great games against two great teams.”

We look forward to seeing you and hearing your cheers around the rink this Friday! For a complete schedule of events and tournament rules visit our Empire Cup page
