Millbrook Wins 3-2 OT Thriller at Kent

Heather Neuburger '13 knocked home a Sarah Anthony '12 pass less than two minutes into overtime to give the Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team an exciting 3-2 win over Kent on Wednesday. The Mustangs had dominated the beginning of overtime, so it was fitting that Neuburger was able to notch her second goal of the game and give the Mustangs a well-earned victory. Kent scored first just five minutes into the game, but Neuburger knotted the score with her first goal, assisted by right wing Amelia Woods '13, with 10:38 to go in the half. Then the Mustangs took a 2-1 lead into the half when the Schmalz sisters teamed up for the second goal--scored by Kayla '14, assisted by Maddie '13. However, Kent tied it back up with a goal six minutes into the second. From that point forward, Millbrook's energy started to flag a bit before revving back up at the end of regulation and on into OT. Though all players in the 7-v-7 OT had played every minute of the game, they looked energized rather than fatigued. The Mustangs bench drowned out everyone with their vociferous cheering, and then the whole team celebrated together after the thrilling win.
